What is a Query Parameter? A short definition.

1 minute reading time

A query parameter is a term for a defined set of parameters placed at the end of a URL. By providing a URL for these extensions, it is made clear that a website visitor is searching for a specific word or phrase. After all, a query parameter is used to define specific (search) actions based on data that is passed.

A query parameter can be formatted with a letter or a word such as s, q, search or query. In addition, query parameters can be appended to the end of the URL with a “?”. Query parameters can be seen as a useful source of information about a visitor’s behavior on a website. After all, a query parameter offers a website owner possibilities to keep track of searches.
