What is a Data lake? A short definition - NewMetrics

1 minute reading time

A data lake is a central repository for structured and unstructured data, collected from various sources.

The purpose of a data lake is to support business decisions through analysis of data, without prior cleaning and classification.

For example, a healthcare company can collect data about patients, hospital visits and treatment history and store it in a data lake. This allows them to find new insights and connections through advanced analysis methods.
